Functional nutrition and functional neurology is a comprehensive and personalized approach to understanding the root cause of an individual's health issues.

The goal is to go beyond simply masking our patient's symptoms and get to the root cause of the issue. We use a variety of techniques, such as nutrition, life style adjustments and various different test kits, to try to identify and remedy any systemic issues to get our patients to their optimum health.
ABOUT
Dr. Husmillo
Dr. Michael Husmillo is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley where he majored in Integrative Biology with an emphasis in neuroanatomy. He did his thesis under the supervision of Dr. Marian C. Diamond studying the relationship between the immune system and its effects on the neuroanatomy. He obtained his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life Chiropractic College West where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. While attending Life Chiropractic College, Dr. Husmillo also completed a 3-year postdoctoral functional neurology course through the Carrick Institute for Graduate Studies in Clinical Neurology and successfully passed examinations leading to the certification of Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board.

In addition, Dr. Husmillo has further training in functional medicine through Functional Medicine University. He has blended his background in functional neurology with hundreds of hours of advanced post doctorate training in neurochemistry and functional medicine to provide a very comprehensive and unique approach to one's care.
Dr. Husmillo’s training in functional medicine has allowed him to better understand the profound connection between the brain and the gut. Dr. Husmillo’s belief that brain-gut connection is the key to living a healthy life.

Our Test Kits
Food Allergy Test
Analyzes your blood and determines which foods you are sensitive to (foods that cause mild reactions such as gas, diarrhea and abdominal pain) and which foods you may have an allergy to (those that affect the immune system and cause an immediate response).
Organic Acid Test
Organic acids are chemical compounds found in high concentrations in urine. This test checks the levels of amino acids, vitamins, minerals and intestinal yeast/bacteria to get an accurate metabolic profile.
Comprehensive Hormone analysis
Tests and analyzes a variety of hormones; including estrogen, progesterone, androgen and more to create a baseline and identify any hormonal imbalances.
Neurotransmitter 24-Hour Test
This test analyzes your urine over a 24-hour period to show how your body synthesizes and metabolizes neurotransmitters.

Measures your cortisol as well as 5 other hormone levels over a 24-hour period to determine if there is any abnormal adrenal function.
Comprehensive stool analysis
Helps to pinpoint the cause of gastrointestinal symptoms by measuring and analyzing imbalances of bacteria and yeast/fungus.
